Madhya Pradesh: Will BJP's Efforts To Convince Deepak Joshi Not To Quit Party Fail?

Bhopal: Deepak Joshi, former MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and son of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kailash Joshi, is likely to formally take Congress membership in front of State Congress President Kamal Nath here on Saturday.

Joshi, who was an MLA from Bagli and Hatpipliya in Dewas district, was upset with the state BJP organization for a long time and on May 1 expressed his displeasure publicly and indicated to join the Congress.

After this, efforts were made by the state organization to persuade him, but he seems adamant on his decision to join the Congress. Today May 5 is his wife's death anniversary and he may formally join the Congress after meeting Kamal Nath here on Saturday.

Joshi has also been the Minister of Technical Education before the year 2018 in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

Deepak Joshi reiterated his intention to join Congress

According to the sources of State Congress, it has been decided that Deepak Joshi will join the party. He has already met Kamal Nath and will formally join the Congress on Saturday. Late Thursday evening, in response to questions from the media here, he reiterated his intention to join the Congress.

On the other hand, state BJP sources say that Joshi is the son of senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister late Kailash Joshi. He was the MLA of the party and also held other responsibilities. The party has given him a lot and all the prominent senior leaders have discussed with him in recent times, but he does not seem satisfied.

Sources said that the party is gearing up for the upcoming assembly elections in full gear and is also prepared to deal with such developments.

Joshi may contest from Hatpipliya seat on Cong ticket

Meanwhile, it is believed that Deepak Joshi may contest the upcoming assembly elections from Hatpipliya assembly seat in Dewas district after joining the Congress. On the other hand, political observers believe that the Congress will use him as a strategic attack on the BJP in view of the assembly elections.

Kailash Joshi, father of Deepak Joshi and one of the founders of Jana Sangh, has been the Chief Minister of this state and his image has been of a very clean and honest person.
