Rajasthan: Will Sachin Pilot Get A Bigger Role In Central Leadership And Will He Accept It?

Sachin Pilot is likely to become active in the national leadership of the Congress. It has been decided to make Pilot the National General Secretary in the team of National President Mallikarjun Kharge. After this, Pilot could make a place in the top leadership team of 35 Congress leaders. He will be given the command in charge of a big state. 

The Congress is continuously churning to remain in majority by overcoming the anti-incumbency wave in the state and the tussle between Gehlot-Pilot may prove to be harmful for the party in the upcoming assembly elections. 

Will campaign on important seats

Pilot will not have a direct role in Rajasthan, but considering his influence, the Congress will use him for campaigning in important seats. According to AICC sources, after an internal decision, this has been conveyed to him by the Congress leadership.

State Congress in-charge Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said – The role of every leader in Congress is decided according to his stature. The role of Pilot will also be decided accordingly. We will fight the Rajasthan elections together and form the government again.

Pilot will be consulted in ticket distribution

Pilot may not have any direct responsibility in the Rajasthan elections, but his opinion will be important in ticket distribution. Pilot supporters will be adjusted in ticket distribution. Those seats where Pilot has influence, tickets will be given only with his onsent. Pilot's influence is believed to be on 40 to 45 seats in other areas including eastern Rajasthan.

Sources say that the reshuffle in the national team will happen simultaneously. The name of Pilot alone will not be announced. All the big leaders of the Congress including Rahul Gandhi are of the opinion that the commander is not changed in the middle of a battle. 

In such a situation, it is clear that the election of Rajasthan will be fought under Gehlot's plans and his leadership only. Even though it is being said by the Congress that there will be no face in the elections, but Ashok Gehlot will be the face of the Congress undeclaredly during the elections.

Is Sachin keen on coming to Delhi?

In the past Sachin Pilot, who has been a constant challenger to the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan, has not appeared  very keen on coming to Delhi and playing any role in the All India Congress Committee (AICC). According to information received from sources, he wants his role in Rajasthan only.  So it remains to be seen whether he will change his stance and sccept the new proposal. 

Kharge had advised Pilot to forgive and forget and move forward

Earlier, days after the crucial Rajasthan polls strategy meeting of the party, Pilot had said Mallikarjun Kharge advised him to “forgive and forget” and move forward. 

“Ashok Gehlot ji is older than me, he has more experience. He has heavy responsibilities on his shoulders. When I was the Rajasthan Congress president, I tried to take everyone along. I think that today he is the Chief Minister, so Gehlot is trying to take everyone along," Pilot has said.

“If there is a little back and forth, then it is not a big issue because the party and the public are more important than any individual. I also understand this and he also understands it,” he said.
