Madhya Pradesh: Congress Leader KK Mishra Urges EC to Remove CS Iqbal Singh Bains For This Reason

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department Chairman KK Mishra has demanded the Election Commission of India to remove Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains. While tweeting about this, he has said that fair elections cannot be held in Madhya Pradesh during his tenure. Citing Bains's close relations with CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Congress leader has requested the Election Commission to remove him as soon as possible.

In his tweet, KK Mishra has said that in order to conduct fair and transparent elections in Madhya Pradesh, the Election Commission, Government of India should remove Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, who has been granted two extensions of terms. Fair elections will not be possible during their tenure, Mishra said.

According to Mishra, the Election Commission of India guidelines state that no officer or employee on contract or who has been given extension should be engaged in election related work.

Bains is a very close officer of CM

Mishra pointed out that Bains is a very close officer of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and has been working with him continuously for many years. He has also been the Secretary and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.

Bains will also write the confidential report i.e. CR of the collectors of the districts of the state. For this reason, the Collectors will work only in favor of the Bharatiya Janata Party at the behest of Bains. There have been many instances of him spoiling the CR of many IAS officers because they did not act on the instructions of Bains, Mishra alleged.

The government has also been maintaining that the Chief Secretary has no role in the assembly elections. But if he had no role, then why does the Election Commission of India handle all the correspondence with the State Government with the Chief Secretary, Mishra asked.

“The present Chief Secretary has also made his son Amanbir Singh the Collector of Betul district for almost three and a quarter years. He should also be immediately removed from the district, so that fair and fearless voting can be conducted as per the intention of the Commission*.”

Leader of Opposition had also made this demand

In August this year, Leader of Opposition Dr. Govind Singh had also written a letter to the Election Commission demanding regular appointment to the post of Chief Secretary and raising questions regarding the extension in service of Iqbal Singh Bains.

Govind Singh had said that under the Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, the upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh cannot be conducted with complete honesty and fairness. Along with this, a request was made to immediately remove him from the post and appoint some other officer to the post of regular Chief Secretary. Now once again Congress leader KK Mishra has demanded the Election Commission to remove Iqbal Singh Bains to conduct fair elections in the state.
