MP Elections 2023: Amidst the electoral battle in Madhya Pradesh, bad news is coming for Congress from Gotegaon assembly seat of Narsinghpur. The factionalism in the party came to the fore when two candidates filed their nominations from Gotegaon which is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC). Narmada Prasad Prajapati is the MLA from this seat at present.
Prajapati’s ticket was cut in first list
Former MLA Shekhar Choudhary and current MLA Narmada Prasad Prajapati were demanding tickets from this assembly from Congress. In the first list, Narmada Prasad Prajapati's ticket was canceled and Shekhar Choudhary was given the ticket.
Shekhar Choudhary had intensified the election campaign by inaugurating the election office. Meanwhile, Narmada Prasad Prajapati, who was upset as his ticket was cut, reached Bhopal and registered his protest.
Prajapati was given ticket in second list
Now when the second list of Congress came, Shekhar Choudhary's ticket was cut and given to Narmada Prasad Prajapati. Shekhar Choudhary went to Chhindwara with a big convoy and lodged a protest before Kamal Nath and said that he would contest the elections.
Both Choudhary and Prajapati filed nomination
As the process of nomination started, Shekhar Choudhary from Congress filed his nomination yesterday. Narmada Prasad Prajapati from Congress also filed his nomination after a gap of one hour.
Choudhary, who filed his nomination after the ticket was cut, said - Today I have filed my nomination from the Congress party. I hope that by 30th the party will consider.
Whereas Prajapati said- I am an authorized candidate of Congress, I have filled the form. See I have faith and belief in myself. Congress will win 150 seats in entire Madhya Pradesh.
In this way, two nominations have been filed from the same party Congress from Gotegaon Assembly of the district. Who will be contesting from Congress from Gotegaon Assembly? This has become a topic of discussion among the general public and Congress workers. The state and district Congress committees are maintaining silence in this matter.
Prajapati was Energy Minister in Digvijaya Singh govt
Narmada Prasad Prajapati was the Energy Minister in the Congress's Digvijays Singh government. He has been the Assembly Speaker in the 15-month long government of Kamal Nath.
Choudhary joined Cong on assurance of ticket
Shekhar Choudhary is a former MLA and after not getting the ticket from BJP in 2018, he came to Congress on the assurance of ticket. Even then Congress had not given him the ticket. This time the ticket was given and taken back.
Possibility of a triangular contest
BJP has made Mahendra Nagesh its candidate from Gotegaon Assembly. If Shekhar Chaudhary contests as an independent candidate then there is a possibility of a triangular contest in this assembly.
