Bihar political developments: Why did Sharad Pawar express astonishment? Why did Akhilesh Yadav said Nitish Kumar had been demoted?

On Sunday, Nitish Kumar departed from the INDIA Alliance, aligning himself with the NDA to form a new government. Reacting to this swift political development, Sharad Pawar expressed astonishment, noting that such a rapid shift in political allegiance was unprecedented.

Pawar remarked, "The events in Patna are unprecedented; never have we witnessed such a dramatic turn of events in such a short span."

Recalling an earlier meeting in Patna convened by Nitish Kumar for non-BJP parties, Pawar questioned the sudden shift in Kumar's stance. He stated, "Just ten days ago, Nitish Kumar called a meeting of non-BJP parties in Patna. However, in the past 10-15 days, he abandoned this ideology and aligned with the BJP to form a government."

Expressing surprise at Nitish Kumar's actions, Pawar added, "A mere ten days ago, it seemed unlikely that he would take such a step. Instead, he was positioning himself as an opponent of the BJP. It's unclear what led to this sudden change."

Sharad Pawar also predicted that the public would hold Kumar accountable for his actions in the future.

A potential future PM had been relegated to the role of CM under the NDA

Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, took a dig at the BJP, asserting that a potential future Prime Minister had been relegated to the role of Chief Minister under the NDA in Bihar. Using terms like "BJP's desperation," "conspiracy," and "insult to public opinion," Yadav criticized the BJP's actions.

In a tweet, Akhilesh wrote, "This is the result of BJP's desperation as they fear losing the Lok Sabha elections—a conspiracy that demoted a potential future Prime Minister to the position of Chief Minister by assimilating him into its fold."

He further accused the BJP of insulting the people of Bihar and public opinion, asserting that the public would respond by defeating the BJP alliance in the Lok Sabha elections. Akhilesh declared, "Every resident of Bihar will cast their next vote to preserve the honor of Bihar and defeat the BJP."

Earlier in the day, Akhilesh Yadav had stated, "The BJP has never been as weak in its lifetime as it has become today."

Akhilesh said, "Today, a new record of betrayal has been set. The public will respond fittingly. There can be no greater personal defeat than losing trust."
