Cholesterol is a sticky substance produced by the liver. Cholesterol is necessary for digestion, vitamin D, formation of some hormones and formation of cell membranes. There are two types of cholesterol, good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. Low density lipoprotein (LDL) is called bad cholesterol. High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) is called good cholesterol.
Increase in bad cholesterol in the body is a threat to health. Weight gain, persistent pain in legs, excessive sweating, change in skin color, chest pain and cramps can be symptoms of increased cholesterol. Bad diet, deteriorating lifestyle and genetic reasons are also responsible for increasing cholesterol.
Our diet directly affects cholesterol levels. Some foods increase cholesterol while some also control cholesterol. If some healthy changes are made in the diet then the cholesterol profile can be controlled.

Consume oats and barley
Oats contain beta-glucan, which is a type of soluble fiber. It helps in controlling cholesterol rapidly. Consumption of barley also works like soap in reducing bad cholesterol. Consume walnuts and almonds

Consume beans
Legumes include beans, pulses, gram and peas. These beans are rich in protein, fiber and minerals. Consuming these keeps cholesterol level under control. If you want to control cholesterol, then consume pulses, kidney beans and chickpeas in your diet.
