Lok Sabha elections will begin from April 19, will be held in 7 phases; results on this day



The Election Commission (EC) has announced that Lok Sabha elections-2024 will  begin from April 19, will be held in 7 phases. Results will be announced on June 4.


The Election Commission has also announced to hold assembly elections in four states.


The tenure of the current Lok Sabha is ending on June 16 and the new Lok Sabha is to be formed before that.


The tenure of the assemblies in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha is also ending on different dates in June.


Phase-1 


In Phase 1, voting will be held on 102 seats in 21 states on April 19.


Phase-2


Voting will be held for 89 seats in 13 states on April 26.


Phase-3


Voting will be held on May 7 for 94 seats in 12 states.


Phase-4


Voting will be held on 96 seats of 10 states on May 13.


Phase-5


Voting will be held on 49 seats in 8 states on May 20.


Phase-6


Voting will be held on 57 seats in 7 states on May 25.


Phase-7


Voting will be held on 57 seats in 8 states on June 1.


Announcing the elections, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that our team is now complete, we are fully prepared for the biggest celebration of Indian democracy.


Our promise is to conduct national elections in such a way that India becomes proud at the global level.


The Election Commission said that there are 97 crore registered voters in the country, there are more than 10.5 lakh polling stations, 55 lakh EVMs will be used.


The total voters include 49.7 crore men, 47.1 crore women and 48 thousand transgenders.


The number of such voters, who will vote for the first time, is 1.8 crore.


He said that our voter list includes 82 lakh voters above 85 years of age and 2.18 lakh voters above 100 years of age.


The voter sex ratio across the country is 948, with 12 states and union territories having more female voters than male voters.


Voting from home facility will be available for voters above 85 years of age and disabled persons across the country.


This time, for the first time in the country, this system will be implemented simultaneously that we will send forms to voters who are above 85 years of age and have more than 40% disability, if they choose this option of voting.


Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that there is no scope for violence during the Lok Sabha elections.


Any complaint related to violence will be resolved within 100 minutes.
