Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has accused the Modi government at the Center of promoting unemployment, inflation, economic crisis, inequality and atrocities.
She made these allegations while addressing a party rally in Jaipur on Saturday in the run up to Lok Sabha Election-2024.
Party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and many other leaders were present in this rally.
The Congress manifesto was publicly launched in this rally. The party has named it Nyaya Patra.
Sonia Gandhi hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of “destroying” the country and its democracy. She also alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is forcing the opposition leaders to join the saffron party ahead of the Lok Sabha election-2024.
Sonia Gandhi said, "For the last 10 years, our country has been in the hands of a government which has left no stone unturned in promoting unemployment, inflation, economic crisis, inequality and atrocities. What the Modi government has done is in front of you. That is why there is a sense of despair, but with despair comes hope."
She said, "Modi ji is tearing apart the dignity of the country and democracy by considering himself great. Various tactics are being used to intimidate, threaten and force opposition leaders to join the BJP. Our country's democracy is in danger. There is a conspiracy to change our Constitution."
Manifesto is the voice of the country: Priyanka
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said in this rally, "We have named our manifesto as Nyaya Patra, so that it is clear that this is not just a list of declarations which we will forget after the elections. This is the voice of a struggle. Yes, it is the voice of this country, which is demanding justice today."
She alleged, "The vote you are going to cast will save the democracy of the country. You must be thinking how our democracy is in danger. This is because the big institutions that have been created to strengthen democracy They are being weakened, they are being misused. Today the situation is such that people do not even trust EVMs."
We implemented our guarantees: Kharge
Party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge has accused PM Modi of stealing the word 'guarantee'.
Mallikarjun Kharge said, "PM is saying that it is my guarantee. The guarantee is our word which the Prime Minister stole. We gave a guarantee in Himachal, whatever guarantee we gave there, we implemented them. In Telangana, we implemented our guarantees. What is your (BJP's) guarantee? Modi ji always confuses people."
Kharge said, "You have not done anything for this country and you ask what Congress did in 70 years. We were in power for 55 years. We are giving account of what we did in 55 years. We did in Rajasthan. You give your account of what you have done."
He said, "Priyanka Gandhi ji told about our manifesto. Under our 5 justice guarantees, we have promised to give 25 guarantees. We are not among those who lie. How many guarantees have BJP given before us? What guarantees have they given to the people and have they been fulfilled?"
