What Kejriwal government minister Raaj Kumar Anand said while resigning from party and post?

Raaj Kumar Anand, a minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi, has resigned from his post and from the Aam Aadmi Party.

Anand, who was the Social Welfare Minister in the Kejriwal government, resigned and said, "Arvind Kejriwal once said at Ramlila Maidan, Jantar Mantar 'the country will change if the politics changes'. Today the politics didn't change but the politician changed."

"Aam Aadmi Party was born out of the movement against corruption, but today this party itself is stuck in the quagmire of corruption. It has become uncomfortable for me to work in this government. I resign from my ministerial post in this party and government," he said.

ED had raided residence of Raaj Kumar Anand

Raaj Kumar Anand's residence was raided in November 2023 in a money laundering case by the Enforcement Directorate not connected to the liquor probe.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is currently running the Delhi government from jail. Apart from this, Manish Sisodia is also in jail since last year.

Raaj Kumar Anand's departure from his position as a minister in Delhi coincided with Atishi's assertion that the BJP was attempting to dismantle the Aam Aadmi Party, claiming she herself had been approached by them. However, her allegations faced challenge from a BJP leader who refuted them and initiated legal action against her.

Anand, a longstanding member of AAP's national council, has been an integral part of Kejriwal's movement since 2011. Holding a post-graduate degree in political science, Anand secured victory in the 2020 assembly election in Patel Nagar.
