UP Lok Sabha Election 2024: Amethi/Rae Bareli: Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi said on Friday that if the coalition government is formed, equal importance will be given to the development of Rae Bareli and Amethi.
Addressing a public meeting organized in favor of alliance's Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma in Gauriganj-Nandmahar of Amethi parliamentary constituency, he said, “I am yours, I am from Amethi, was and will always be. I may become an MP from Rae Bareli but Amethi is my family and will always be so. Whatever work/plan comes to Rae Bareli will also come to Amethi, this is my guarantee.”
He addressed the poll meeting in Rae Bareli in the presence of his mother Sonia Gandhi, sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and ally Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav.
Rahul once again said that if the BJP succeeds in forming the government, they will change the Constitution. Will end the reservation. They will hand over government undertakings to private hands and eliminate every citizen's right to speak.
Rahul will not let you down: Sonia
Former Rae Bareli MP Sonia Gandhi said in her short speech, “I am deeply grateful to the people of Rae Bareli for the opportunity they have given me to serve as an MP for 20 years. Similarly, I am also deeply grateful to Amethi. Indira Gandhi also had an emotional attachment to Rae Bareli. The children of our family have been taught to respect and love everyone but face injustice fearlessly. And I am handing over my son to you, just as you have accepted me as your own, Rahul will not let you down."

He said, "I accept this responsibility with pride and promise that I will respect every word said by my mother."
Addressing the rally, Rahul Gandhi said that the Modi government is an ally of the capitalists and has betrayed everyone including the farmers and soldiers.
'Whatever I have learned in politics, the people of Amethi have taught me'
Earlier in Amethi, he said, “For the first time I came to Amethi with my father late Rajiv Gandhi 42 years ago. At that time I was a 12 year old kid. Whatever I have learned in politics, the people of Amethi have taught me.
Rahul Gandhi said, “Modi government snatched away the food park from the people of Amethi which would have provided employment to lakhs of people. Triple IT was snatched away, whatever we gave here, Narendra Modi ji tried to snatch it. I spread the network of national highways here. Amethi was connected to the rest of India by providing Petroleum Institute, Rashtriya Udaan Academy, HAL, BHEL, CRPF Training Camp, Carbide Factory, but the contract of Carbide Factory was canceled by Narendra Modi. To help Adani ji, they snatched that too from your hands.”
'Constitution is the foundation of your progress'
Describing BJP as a threat to the Constitution, he said, “For the first time, any political party, its leaders have clearly said that they will abolish, destroy, throw away this Constitution but it is not that easy. Every citizen of the country has to protect the Constitution, because it is your voice, it is your future, it is your thinking. This is the foundation of your progress.
He said that if the Constitution ends, the public sector will end, jobs will end, inflation will reach sky high, reservation will end and all your rights will be snatched away from you, one after the other. The rights of farmers, rights of laborers, rights of youth, rights of mothers and sisters, all will be snatched away. That is why the most important task is to protect this Constitution."
'Soldiers have been made laborers'
He said that for the first time in the history of India, soldiers have been made laborers through Agniveer Yojana and they would be thrown out after three years. One will get martyr status, the other will not. One will get pension, the other will not. If a coalition government is formed, we will pick up Agniveer scheme and throw it in the dustbin and there will be only one type of martyr, everyone will get pension, everyone will get canteen facilities, everyone will get respect, everyone will get a medal.
Gandhi said that the Modi government made the youth unemployed, implemented demonetizeation, implemented wrong GST and made the common man stand on the streets. If the coalition government comes, every unemployed person will get the right to 'first confirmed job'.
Apart from Rahul and Akhilesh Yadav, organization general secretary KC Venugopal, Amethi Lok Sabha in-charge, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, national general secretary in-charge Uttar Pradesh Avinash Pandey, Lok Dal Chaudhary Sunil Singh etc. were present in the resolution meeting.
