(In Pics) PM Modi offers arghya to Sun at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari; continues meditation

Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered arghya (water offering to the Sun according to Hindu scriptures) to the rising Sun on the second day of his meditation at Vivekananda Rock Memorial located near the Kanyakumari coast.

The BJP has shared a video and photos on social media platform 'X' in which the Prime Minister, dressed in saffron robes, is praying to Surya Devta. He is seen reciting mantras while offering water to Surya Devta

In the photo, he is seen with a Rudraksha rosary in his hand and a tilak on his forehead. In different pictures posted by the BJP on X, the Prime Minister was also seen meditating at the Dhyan Mandapam and making parikrama (circumambulating) of the mandap with prayer beads in his hand.

He began his meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial on Thursday evening after offering special prayers at the Sri Bhagavathi Amman Temple, one of the '108 Shakti Peethas' dedicated to Goddess Kanyakumari.

PM Modi is likely to visit the famous Tiruvalluvar statue of a Tamil saint near the memorial on Saturday after completing his meditation session. Senior BJP party leaders have also not been allowed to accompany Modi to the memorial as it is a spiritual journey.

Multi-layered security arrangements have been put in place in Kanyakumari in view of Modi's visit. Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard ships have been deployed for round-the-clock patrolling in the waters close to the shoreline while the Coastal Security Group (CSG) of the Tamil Nadu Marine Police is also keeping a strict vigil in view of the visit.

PM Modi is on a three-day meditation break in Kanyakumari. The Vivekananda Rock Memorial holds great significance in Swami Vivekananda's life as he meditated on the same rock. Vivekananda arrived after wandering across the country, meditated for three days, and attained a vision for a developed India. According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati meditated on one foot at the same place as she waited for Lord Shiva.
