Archery World Cup 2024: India clinches gold in compound men's and women's team events


India's men's and women's compound teams delivered commanding performances to clinch gold medals at the Archery World Cup 2024 Stage 1 in Shanghai on Saturday.


In the women's compound team event, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Swami, and Parneet Kaur showcased exceptional skill, conceding only four points to secure a resounding victory over Italy with a score of 236-225. This triumph marked India's golden start in the season-opening global showcase.


Meanwhile, the men's team comprising Abhishek Verma, Priyansh, and Prathamesh Fuge displayed remarkable precision, dropping just two points on their path to defeating the Netherlands' Mike Schloesser, Sil Pater, and Stef Willems with a score of 238-231.


The women's team, entering as the top seed, demonstrated their dominance by relinquishing only four points throughout the competition, overpowering the sixth-seeded Italy.


During the initial three ends, consisting of six arrows each, Jyothi, Aditi, and Parneet maintained consistent accuracy, securing a substantial 178-171 lead over their Italian counterparts. Despite dropping two points in the fourth end, the Indian team's lead remained unassailable, ultimately claiming the gold with an impressive 11-point margin.
