April is a crucial month in Greece's tourism preparations because it will serve as the first test before the official start of the season on May 14. The aim is to open the country to visitors from the Balkans, Israel, and the United Kingdom on a trial basis.
According to the report, COVID-19's performance in April will be judged on Easter which is the year's first major test.
Following the trip to Romania, Tourism Minister Harry Theocharis announced that the first tourists are scheduled to arrive from the Balkans.
“I am sure that we will have the privilege of welcoming a significant number of Romanian visitors to Greece before Easter,” he said.
The aim of the April 16 opening for a limited number of countries is to gradually create a route to summer and test the new entry protocols.
