Bharat Jodo Yatra: What Rahul Gandhi Said On Completion Of 100 Days

Jaipur: Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of doing politics of hatred, violence and fear, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi has said that the Congress wants to stand against it and unite India.

We want to stand against politics of hatred

Rahul Gandhi, who is taking out 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, was addressing a press conference organized here today on completion of 100 days of the yatra. Describing the three goals of Bharat Jodo Yatra, he said that the most important thing is that we want to connect India.

Gandhiji's way of doing politics

Rahul said we want to stand against the politics of hatred, violence and fear being practiced by the BJP and the RSS. This message has gone very well in the country. There has been a very good reception of this message. This is another way of doing politics, Congress way, Gandhiji's way.

I am not the first or last person to undertake yatra

On another question, he said for himself: "This person (referring to himself i.e. Rahul) is walking because BJP has spread fear and hatred in this country and this person is walking because he wants to eradicate fear and hatred and this person is not the only person who is walking like this. India has a history of fighting hate and fear, and I am not the first and will not be the last one to do this. This is not my yatra, this is the yatra of the people of India. It is a yatra for the ideology of the Congress party and it is a yatra to unite India."

He said that now it has been 100 days of 'Bharat Jodo Yatra'. From Kanyakumari, now we are leaving Rajasthan, it has been a great experience.

Gandhi said lakhs and crores of party workers are its strength and "if we utilise our workers well, we will be able to ensure a massive victory of the Congress in Rajasthan in next elections".

Asked about the response to the Bharat Jodo Yatra so far, he said it has been overwhelming in Rajasthan and the Hindi speaking belt.

Critics proved wrong

"We saw that it is not just the party workers, but the general public also loves the Congress a lot... Critics felt the Bharat Jodo Yatra will fail in Rajasthan due to factionalism, but it has been a huge success here and the response has been overwhelming," Gandhi said.

Rahul said that the unemployment is increasing, inflation is increasing and the income of the people is declining. Only selected people are benefiting and our farmers, laborers, small shopkeepers, youth they are at a loss.

People's dreams are shattered

Gandhi said that economic injustice is happening in this country and the people of the country are seeing it. The people of the country can see that the chosen ones have everything. They have billions of rupees and crores of people have nothing. Everyone is seeing it. Crores of people wake up everyday, have some dream or the other and then their dream is shattered. Some try to become an engineer, some try to become a doctor. They know the truth in their hearts that they will not get anything.

China preparing to wage war against India

Rahul Gandhi has said that China is preparing to wage war against India.

Rahul Gandhi said, "China is preparing for war against us but our government is not ready to accept this, it is hiding the truth."

He said, "China has occupied 2,000 square kilometers of India and is beating up Indian Army soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh."

Rahul Gandhi that he has been talking about danger from China for two-three years but the government is trying to hide it, ignoring it.

Vision of the country should be forward

He said that it is the work of the Congress party that the vision of the country should be forward and not backward. BJP says look what happened two thousand years ago, that is not a vision. Congress party looks ahead. But don't forget history. We try to give vision to the country. We listen to the voice of the country, so there is a huge opportunity for us and only Congress party can do this work and no BJP can do it.

Gandhi claimed that none of the regional parties can represent a vision for the country.

They can represent a vision for a community or a state but they cannot represent a vision for the country, he added.

What Rahul said on Opposition unity

Asked when would the Congress take the lead in uniting the Opposition on the road to 2024, Gandhi said this should be asked of party chief Mallikarjun Kharge.

"I have a view that the Congress must work with all the opposition parties. There is a lot of space to do that. But the exact strategy for how it is going to be done that you will have to ask the new Congress president, I am not involved in that right now," he said.

Gandhi alleged there are multiple reasons why the BJP wins elections such as "they have huge amounts of money, they use the institutions of the country, they pressurise and threaten people".

Those tools are not available to the Congress and it does not want to use them, he said.

We will never take over institutions

"We will never take over the institutions of this country because we are the ones who built them and we know that they belong to the people of this country, we will not touch them. We don't have access to that money we never will. We don't offer the conveniences that the BJP offers as we say inconvenient things related to farmers, labourers and small businesses and do all that, so we will never get that money," he said.

Live performances in Jaipur

Live performances were given on Friday night in a musical concert organised here to mark 100 days of Bharat Jodo Yatra'.
