Uttar Pradesh: Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya's Statement Leads To Anxiety; Mayawati Also Increased SP's Difficulties

Lucknow: Municipal elections are going on in Uttar Pradesh. Politics has heated up regarding the by-elections to Rampur's Swar and Mirzapur's Chanve assembly, in such a situation, a statement by the state's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya has created a stir in the political circles.

State's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya tweeted that 75 out of 100 is ours. Out of remaining 25 we are getting some.

In 2022 there were elections to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. That's why the slogan of 80 and 20 became very popular. The BJP had claimed that it was getting 80 percent of the votes, while 20 percent would go to the opposition parties. Opposition parties had raised many questions linking this claim of BJP with the Hindu Muslim vote bank. Now the Deputy Chief Minister himself has given some different indications by giving a new equation of 75-25.

Claim of Deputy Chief Minister

Maurya claims that BJP is getting 75 percent votes, while 25 percent votes are being divided among several parties. Moreover, out of the 25 percent votes that are being divided, the BJP is getting some votes. Politics has started in Uttar Pradesh regarding this new equation.

Meaning of Maurya's statement

There could be many meanings of the above statement of Keshav Prasad Maurya. It is believed that there was a fierce tussle between the SP and the BSP over the Muslim vote bank in the past. Both the parties tried their best to influence this vote bank.

Leaders of many parties including Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav started raising many issues related to Muslims with full force. He even questioned Yogi’s bulldozer and encounter policy. Akhilesh and his wife Dimple Yadav also expressed fear that BSP supremo Mayawati could be responsible for splitting of Muslim vote bank.

Mayawati increased SP's difficulties

Former Chief Minister Mayawati has also increased the difficulties regarding the Muslim vote bank of Uttar Pradesh. BSP supremo Mayawati has fielded 11 mayor Muslim candidates out of 17 municipal corporations. It is being considered as an attempt by BSP to make inroads in the Muslim community.

If we look at its political significance, this step of Mayawati has put the Samajwadi Party in tension. SP is afraid that their Muslim-Yadav equation may get disintegrated. In such a situation, the meaning of Maurya's statement is being extracted that due to the appeasement of one class, another class can unite.
