The sweetness of Indian mango is increasing across the world. There has been a 19 percent increase in mangoes exported from India to foreign countries during the months of April to August of the financial year 2023-24.
India has exported total mangoes worth $47.98 million during this period. Whereas during the same period of 2022-23, India had exported mangoes worth a total of $ 40.33 million.
27,330 tonnes of mango exported from April to Aug 2023
The Commerce Ministry has released data regarding mango exports from India. The ministry said that Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has exported a total of 27,330 tonnes of mango during April to August 2023, which was 22,963.78 tonnes in previous year during the same period. In these five months, maximum mango has been exported to America. A total of 2043.60 tonnes of mangoes have been exported to the US, which is 19 percent more than the same period last year.
India was allowed to export mangoes to S Korea
Apart from this, 43 tonnes of mango was exported to Japan, 4.44 tonnes to South Africa, 58.42 tonnes to Australia and 111 tonnes to New Zealand. Mango has also been exported to Iran, Nigeria, Czech Republic, Mauritius. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and APEDA jointly invited inspectors from South Korea for clearance of mangoes for export there. Due to this, India was allowed to export 18.43 metric tonnes of mango to South Korea.
APEDA also participated in Seoul Food and Hotel Show
There was great success in the export of mango in 2022-23. In the current season 2023, India has exported mangoes to 41 countries. APEDA also participated in the Seoul Food and Hotel Show to promote the export of Indian mangoes to celebrate the 75 years of India's independence. Due to the efforts of APEDA, 75 varieties of mangoes could be exported to Barheen.
