Students took to the streets to protest against the molestation of a girl in the IIT-BHU campus on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The girl was stripped and video made by miscreants, according to the information.
The incident of molestation of a student came to light in the IIT-BHU campus on Wednesday midnight. Regarding this, hundreds of students reached Rajputana Hostel on Thursday and demonstrated.
The police reached the spot after getting information and tried to convince the students. But the students remained adamant on their demand for strict action.
The administration has also become alert after the molestation incident. Dean of Student Affairs IIT BHU, while confirming the incident, refused to have further details. He said in the said case, an FIR has been lodged on the complaint of the student. After this incident, students of IIT BHU are on the streets since morning. Not only this, all the classes of all the departments of the institute have been suspended. After the incident the campus has also been closed.
On the basis of the girl's complaint, an FIR has been registered under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and under provisions of the IT Act at Lanka police station, police said. Efforts are being made to identify the accused, they said.

Students say that the biggest heinous crime till date has happened on 1st November. At around 2 o'clock in the night, a girl student and a boy student were going somewhere. Meanwhile, some miscreants from outside stopped them. After this the girl and boy were separated. Then they molested the girl. They stripped the girl and started making her video. Now students have come out on the streets to protest against this incident.

The victim is in a state of shock and panic after this incident. The students allege that outside elements have been creating havoc in the university for some time. Cases of teasing of girls roaming around in the campus after late evening are continuously coming to light.
