Madhya Pradesh: 6 year old boy falls into 60 feet deep open borewell in Rewa, rescue operations in full swing


Rewa: A 6-year-old boy fell into an open borewell while playing in Manika village under Janeh police station area of the Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh late afternoon on Friday. As soon as the information was received, the Tehsil administration reached the spot where the rescue team was called and efforts are underway to save the child.


It has been informed that the camera of the rescue team is still not able to reach the child. Therefore it cannot be said exactly what is the condition of the child. According to information received from the district administration, Mayank Adivasi, son of Vijay Adivasi, aged 6 years, fell while playing in an open borewell around 4 pm on Friday.


On receiving information about the incident, the administrative staff including Janeh police station in-charge Kanhaiya Baghel immediately reached the spot. Efforts are being made to rescue the child by digging a pit with the help of JCB machine. 


Mayank was playing with his friends in the wheat field. Meanwhile, he suddenly slipped and fell into the borewell. The children playing with him informed Mayank's family.


The local people and family members immediately informed the police about the incident. At present, efforts are being made to take the child out of the borewell safely. According to the information, the borewell is 60 feet deep.


On the instructions of the state government, Collector Rewa had issued orders to all the SDMs to cover the open borewells. Despite this, the instructions were not followed, as a result of which the above incident came to light.


Pratibha Pal, Collector, Rewa said that after receiving the information, the administrative officer and NDRF rescue team reached the spot. Right now the rescue team's camera is not able to reach the child. Therefore it is difficult to tell the condition of the child. Rescue work is going on, we are trying to take the child out safely, she said.
