A new tweet from Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal addresses the alleged assault on herself. In her tweet on Friday afternoon, she expressed concerns about efforts to deflect responsibility by the accused. She mentioned the importance of examining CCTV footage to reveal the truth. Swati Maliwal emphasized that justice will prevail, regardless of attempts to distort the facts.
Regarding a circulating video related to the alleged assault, it reportedly shows security personnel urging Swati Maliwal to leave, while she refuses. Swati Maliwal has provided her statement to the Delhi Police on the incident.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Maliwal also referred to a "political hitman" - a remark seen by many as aimed at Arvind Kejriwal - and claimed the "hitman" had directed "his people" to share the video in question to build a narrative to defend the party and "save himself (after) committing this crime".
"Like every time... this political hitman has started efforts to save himself. By getting his people to tweet and play videos without any context, he thinks he can save himself (after) committing this crime."
Allegations suggest that on May 13, during a visit to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's residence, Swati Maliwal was assaulted by Kejriwal's close aide Bibhav Kumar. Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh stated that Kejriwal is addressing the issue.
