Hockey team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will proudly serve as India’s flag bearer alongside shooter Manu Bhaker during the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics-2024. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced this decision via a tweet, expressing their happiness in nominating Sreejesh for this prestigious role.
The Indian Olympic Association tweeted about this and wrote that the association is happy to nominate PR Sreejesh.
Manu Bhaker had already been nominated to hold the Indian flag in the closing ceremony of the Olympics.
IOA President P.T. Usha remarked that Sreejesh was a heartfelt and well-regarded choice for this honor. He has made significant contributions to Indian hockey and sports as a whole for over two decades.
However, before Sreejesh, the Indian Olympic Association had talked to Neeraj Chopra to become Manu Bhaker's partner.
PT Usha said, "I spoke to Neeraj Chopra and I appreciate the ease and grace with which he agreed that Sreejesh should be the flag bearer in the closing ceremony."
PT Usha told that Neeraj told her, "Madam, even if you had not asked me, I would have suggested Shri Bhai's name." PT Usha said that this shows Neeraj's immense respect for Sreejesh and his contribution to Indian sports.
