Uddhava Thackeray's nephew meets Eknath Shinde, promises support

Image
A month after being ousted as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and now trying to hold on to the Shiv Sena, Uddhav Thackeray suffered a political setback today, albeit with riders. His nephew Nihar Thackeray - not much of a political player until now - met and pledged support to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the rebel Sena leader who claims the party founded by Bal Thackeray, Uddhava Thackeray's father. Nihar Thackeray's father Bindumadhav Thackeray, who died in a road accident in 1996, was the eldest of Bal Thackeray's three sons; the other two are Jaidev Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray. Politically – and to some extent personally – the branches of the Thackeray family were not particularly close. For some time after he died in 2012, there was controversy over Bal Thackeray's will as well. Bindumadhav Thackeray was not active in politics - he was a film producer - and his son's meeting with Eknath Shinde is now seen as only a token step to claim Bal Thac...

Interestingly, three IPL franchises – Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals – have all invested in teams in the UAE T20 league. "They can't force David Warner to play in the BBL, I understand that, but letting him go - or another player, let's not pick Warner because there will be other players on the radar - it's all part of this global dominance that these IPL franchises are starting to create because they own a number of teams in the Caribbean Premier League," Gilchrist told SEN's Whateley Radio Show. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said these technologies are being used across the country to reduce the heat island effect. The normal daytime temperature in US cities is 38 degrees Celsius. When the mercury gets above that level, the asphalt gets much hotter, around 50 degrees Celsius. This coating helps pavements reflect more sunlight than standard asphalt, making them noticeably less hot as a result. A report in the Independent said the coating can keep the temperature 12 degrees Fahrenheit lower than the standard temperature during the afternoon.
