  Patna: At least seven people are reported missing after a boat carrying them capsized in the river Ganga River near Patna in Bihar on Friday. Patna district magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh said that the mishap occurred at around 2.30 pm near Mahveer Tola ghat when the boat carrying 14 people overturned midway. Singh said the boat capsized and sank in the middle of the river Ganga. While seven people managed to swim to safety and reach the bank of the river, seven others are missing. A search operation was launched by the state disaster relief force to trace the seven missing persons, he said, adding that the missing persons could not be traced. Singh said personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NBDRF) will be engaged to trace the missing persons.

New Delhi: Marion Biotech's Noida plant in Uttar Pradesh, accused of supplying contaminated cough medicine to Uzbekistan, has been shut down. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Friday that following inspection by Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in view of reports of contamination in cough syrup Dok1 Max, all manufacturing activities of Marion Biotech at Noida unit have been stopped, while further investigation is ongoing. Earlier Mandaviya had said that CDSCO is in regular touch with the national drug regulator of Uzbekistan regarding the matter since December 27. The team of Uttar Pradesh Drugs Controller and CDSCO conducted a joint inspection of the Noida plant of the manufacturer Marion Biotech. The ministry had said that further action would be taken on the basis of the inspection report. Cough Syrup Deaths In Uzbekistan: Noida Manufacturing Facility Inspected, Samples Taken

New Delhi: There have been reports from Uzbekistan concerning contaminated cough syrup Dok1 Max made by Indian company Marion Biotech, NOIDA, Uttar Pradesh.  The Union Health Ministry has informed that under directions of Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) is in regular contact with the national drug regulator of Uzbekistan regarding the matter since 27th December, 2022. Joint inspection  carried out The Ministry said that immediately on receipt of the information, joint inspection of the NOIDA facility of the manufacturer, Marion Biotech, was carried out by UP Drug Control and CDSCO team and further action as appropriate would be initiated based on the inspection report.  Marion Biotech is a licensed manufacturer and holds license for manufacturing of Dok1 Max syrup and Tablet for export purpose granted by Drugs Controller, Uttar Pradesh.            ...

  New Delhi: The Health Ministry of Uzbekistan has claimed that 18 children have died after consuming cough syrup made in India. The World Health Organization (WHO) has given a response in this regard.  WHO said- We have talked to the health authorities of Uzbekistan. We will cooperate in the investigation.  A few months ago, the media in Gambia blamed the Indian company for the death of 66 children. However, the government there had later made it clear that the cough syrup made in India had nothing to do with the death of the children. New Delhi: The next 40 days will be crucial as India may see a surge in Coronavirus cases in January, official sources said on Wednesday citing the pattern of previous outbreaks.   "Previously, it has been noticed that a new wave of pandemic hits India around 30-35 days after it hits East Asia. This has been a trend," an official said.  The Health Ministry sources, however, said the severity of the infection is less. Even if there is a wave, deaths and hospitalisation will be very low, they said.  Amid a rise in Covid-19 cases in some countries, including China and South Korea, the government has sounded an alert and told states and Union territories to prepare for any eventuality. New Delhi: According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health, 188 new cases of corona have been reported in India in the last 24 hours, which is 31 patients more than a day earlier. While the number of active patients has increased to 3,468. At the same time, corona infection has been confirmed in 41 passengers who have come from abroad.   New York: The severe winter storm in the United States has so far claimed 62 lives across the country.  The death toll in the worst hit New York city of Buffalo has risen to 28, with thousands still without power amid a monster winter storm that has battered North America.
